Baby Gate aka Jail

Because of our new little crawler... we had to do something about the stairs. Thank goodness only the garage and entryway is downstairs! The gate has a door that easily swings open with one hand... This was necessary for me to be able to hold a diaper bag and a 23 pound baby while coming up the stairs!

When Jesse leaves for work in the morning, Lincoln will follow him all the way to the gate. Sometimes he cries, sometimes he just yells and tries to find Dad.

Here he is... Sometimes I think he is starting to pose for the camera

Lincoln is also starting to point once-in-awhile. I'm not sure if he means to point, but it seems like it...

He also likes to kneel a lot. Here he is on one knee and one foot. I'm not ready for him to start walking anytime soon...

And here's a movie of what happens when Jesse leaves.

Bird Campout over Memorial Day Weekend

Ashley & Kurt organized an awesome camping trip to Posey Lake (15 miles north of Escalante, Utah). Almost everyone from the Bird immediate family was able to come (we missed you, Hendershot family!) plus Jimmy's sister, my sister and her husband, Cody, Becky, and Maryanne. It was cold and windy, but I wish we would have stuck out that 2nd night because the weather was beautiful the day after we left. Lincoln didn't love camping... at least at night. He woke up every few hours because the wind was so noisy. There was hiking, fishing, canoeing, and hanging out by the campfire. I'm glad we came! Thanks, Kurt & Ashley for all the time and energy you put into planning the campout! We definitely need to go again this summer!

Almost half of camp went on the Coyote Gulch hike. It sounded like they had a good time!
Sunday morning (we were already home) they took the smaller kids on another hike.

Nice fish, Ash.

You too, Kurt.

Jesse & I went fishing too... Jesse caught a fish and I got too impatient to keep fishing so I demanded to go to shore. No pictures of that, though. :)

Sorry for bailing so early, everyone! We had a good time (during the day!) and are excited for next time. :) Hopefully it will be warmer though...

Swinging at the Park

A couple weeks ago we stopped by the park to see if Lincoln would enjoy the swings more this time. He had a blast! It was so cute watching him laugh and laugh while Jesse was pushing him. We tried the slide, too, but I don't think he thought it was a good idea. We'll stick to the swings for a little longer. :)

Jesse trying to teach Lincoln where he should put his hands... It just made him frustrated.
"Quit doing that and keep pushing me, Dad!"

Walking Snow Canyon State Park

Audrey, Jenn, Lindsay, and I have started walking up the walking path through Snow Canyon State Park (10 minutes away from where we live). It's 3 miles up and then another 3 back. It's a great workout, beautiful & quiet, and it's fun to talk to each other. It definitely makes the walk more enjoyable. Hopefully we keep it up!

A rare moment: all the babies asleep (except Flora decided to peek when I snapped the picture)

Pool Time

So the weather around here hasn't been as hot as it usually is this time of year... so one of the first times we brought Lincoln to the pool wasn't until May! (It's usually nice and hot in March...)

Jesse & Lincoln

Lincoln hates hats. I'm surprised he kept it on for so long!

Lincoln's 1st Cell Phone

I'm glad Jesse brought one of the broken phones home from the office... I'm pretty sure Lincoln can tell the difference between his toy phones and real ones and always wants to put mine in his mouth. Thank you, Jesse!

Easter

We did a little Easter Egg Hunt for the nieces and nephews. Hiding the eggs is almost as fun as looking for them! :) Lincoln got to play with the leftover plastic eggs. Next year will be a little more fun, hopefully...

Spring SHAC Triathlon

Last minute I decided to sign up for this Sprint Triathlon (April 3rd) to do it with Sabrina. It was a little chilly coming out of the water, but I'm glad I did it!

My splits:

Sprint Distance (400 yd swim, 10 mile bike, 5K run)
Female
25
Final Time 1:22:59.32 (47th female, 7th in age bracket)
Time Back (all females) 00:22:52.160
Time Back (ages 25-29) 00:08:00.550
Swim 00:09:06.034
T1 00:03:26.653
Bike 00:43:27.462
Run 00:26:59.180

For some reason my transition times are always messed up... so I think the bike includes my 2nd transition time. Anyway, it was fun and I'm glad Sabrina pushed me to do it! Good job, Sabrina!

Before the start

Starting the bike (still a little dark out - the race began at 7am)

Michael Buble Concert

Jesse & I went to a Michael Buble concert back in March. It was at the E Center in Salt Lake. He is awesome in concert! We both really enjoyed our little 4th anniversary celebration a little late (on the 31st). Michael Buble is definitely entertaining. On the last song, he sung a verse without the help of any microphones... and if you know how big the E Center is, it would definitely impress you to say everyone in the audience heard him well.

We went to a restaurant downtown called Cannella's. Delicious little Italian restaurant! Our hotel that suggested them gave us a little coupon for a free dessert. Concierge services can be really helpful!

It was also a first to be away from Lincoln overnight. It was so nice to be able to sleep in... and not have to worry about him. Thank you, MiMi!

Here are a few pictures from the concert:

You can see how many members are in his band here...
