Eating Suckers

(Mar. 8, 2014)

Daddy took these boys to get a treat at the "treat store" (gas station), and they both picked out suckers. I guess lying down on the table is a good place to eat suckers?

All Asleep in the Van

(Mar. 5, 2014)

Now if only they would stay that way when I carry them inside to their beds...

Sandbox & Brothers

(Mar. 4, 2014)

I love the sandbox. The boys love the sandbox. I don't love the mess it brings... but it's fun!

Cute boys wanted me to take their pictures. "Take a picture of us. We're brothers!"

Parker, smile! "No."

Contractions... yikes!

(Mar. 1, 2014)

Just before about 7 months pregnant, I started having regular, strong contractions. It happened Friday night for a several hours cutting into my sleep, and then again Saturday night. I was worried because I have a history of preterm deliveries, so I decided I would go into the hospital to check things out. Just in case, I got a "before" picture:

Thank goodness everything checked out and they sent me home on "light bed rest".

No, no, no!

(Feb. 27, 2014)

Griffin can be enthusiastic when it comes to saying no. Just watch:

Birthday Toys

(Feb. 24, 2014)

The Transformer toys were a hit with all four of the boys - they played for hours the next morning. Even Griffin was excited about the rescue station!

Happy 3rd Birthday, Parker!

(Feb. 23, 2014)

We had Nathan & Audrey (Flora, Lola, & Ezra) McKay, Cody, & Mimi & Papa over for birthday cake for Parker's birthday.  He got a Nerf gun, stuffed Luigi doll, and a Ninja Turtles shirt he picked out (from Mom & Dad), and Transformers toys (from Grandpa & Grandma). He was pretty excited!

I got terrible pictures... this was the best one:

Oliver (high chair), Lola (front left), Flora (middle), Lincoln (blurry face), and Parker (top of his head)
Parker requested a pink cake with white frosting. We also added sprinkles.

Later I got a couple good pictures of the birthday boy:

You are such a sweet boy, Parker. You have been having a little attitude lately, which I think is just copying your big brother. You are also a sneaky one! I have to keep an eye on you, or you are sneaking yogurts before dinner, or you are bugging your brothers and blaming it on Lincoln. You are also STUBBORN! But you like to make people laugh and happy, and you love giving your family kisses. We love you!

Both Griffin & Oliver Walking

(Feb. 21, 2014)

The last movie I put up with them walking, Griffin didn't strut his stuff... so here is a movie of BOTH of them walking:

Sneaky Oliver

(Feb. 20, 2014)

Can you tell what that is? I was baking bread in the oven, and I kept smelling something like maybe the house was on fire. The kids were all down for naps, so I frantically searched, and found nothing. I went to check on the bread, and I saw a hot red almost-bursting-into-flames something on the oven floor. I realized that was what I was smelling. Oliver had been playing with that large plastic serving spoon (my nice OXO one...) and I guess figured out how to put it in the oven. Sneaky boy...

Lincoln's Drawing: My Family

(Feb. 9, 2014)

At church, Lincoln drew a picture of his family.

Daddy is bottom right, Griffin and Oliver above him, Parker to their left, Lincoln to his left, and Mommy with a baby in her belly below him.

I want to keep this drawing forever. So CUTE!

Potty Training Attempt...

(Feb. 5, 2014)

Parker: I want to wear underwear!
Mommy: Okay, but you have to stay in the kitchen, because I'm not bending over to scrub the carpet.
...
...
Mommy: You have to wear a diaper now.
Parker: NO!!
Mommy: Sit here until you go. You can watch a show.

One success.

No more.

Back in diapers. If I have to duct tape them on, I will. Next attempt will be after this baby is born. Potty training should not be done with a pregnant lady in the house.

Valentine's Box

(Feb. 4, 2014)

This year Lincoln had a little Valentine exchange at school. He was supposed to make his box at home and bring it. So I hauled out the paint and glue and we got it done during nap time (when I wanted a nap myself...).

Parker didn't want to be left out of the fun.

Scissors with kids is unnerving... probably because of my own past??  :)

Parker proud of his... blob?

Oliver - Haircut

(Jan. 28, 2014)

Here is Oliver after his first real haircut (not a trim like last time):

Now he is starting to look more like a little boy than a baby!

6 Months Pregnant

(Jan. 26, 2014)

Lincoln took this of me after church:

Griffin, the Reader

(Jan. 26, 2014)

Isn't it cute when a baby picks up a book and acts as if he's reading it, turning the pages and everything?

Preschool Field Trip: Rosenbruch Wildlife Museum

(Jan. 24, 2014)

Lincoln's preschool class had a field trip and the rest of us tagged along. I had no idea about this place - it was actually pretty cool. I wouldn't recommend it if you are anti-hunting or an animal rights activist, though... There are a TON of taxidermy/stuffed animals there. Some of which are in pretty cool poses, like this one:

Parker posing by the zebra & lion
The picture above shows a lion capturing a zebra to... you know, eat. Lincoln's viewpoint: "The lion and zebra are playing together!" Ha ha ha... not quite!

Lincoln in front of the giraffe

Griffin (L) & Oliver (R) were pretty entertained since there was a lot to look at.
They also have a bug room... Lincoln and Parker loved it. Not only did they have beetles:

Lincoln looking at endless beetles...
But they had a bunch of flying insects, and tons of beautiful butterflies.

The museum is set up in climate zones and geographic regions - so there were also bears, elk, polar bears, penguins, owls, alligators, seriously SO many animals. They had tons of the little animals, too. Each animal had a little marker with its name. I did not realize how many versions of a small deer-like animal there were!

The kids loved it so much I think we will make a trip every year here.

Lincoln - Self-Taught Bike Rider

(Jan. 15, 2014)

Lincoln had been riding his little bike with training wheels for a while. One day, after putting Griffin & Oliver down for naps, we went out front to ride bikes. Lincoln declared he wanted his training wheels off, because he was going to ride without them from now on. Being pregnant, I thought, Oh great, I'm going to be waddling after him trying to help him learn to ride. But NO! I was not allowed to touch him! "I can do it by myself!" I gave him a few pointers, such as push off with your feet, then begin pedaling, and ride into the grass so it won't hurt as much if you crash.

10 minutes later...

Playing Outside

(Jan. 13, 2014)

Nice weather means playing outside!

Oliver has become our little climber

Where did Griffin go??
