Baby Clothes

So if you read this post... I'll know you are pretty bored because you're reading it in spite of the title. I went shopping with Jenn today because we had some extra time... and it is always more fun to shop when you are with someone! I was already in town, so I thought I'd look.. and of course I found some really cute things for our future baby boy!

0-3 months

3-6 months

6-12 months

Everything I bought can be returned, so if he's a big baby... no worries. I have to say though... the little girl section looks like a lot more fun to shop through. But it was still fun to finally buy something for the little guy. All the clothes kind of remind me of what I would buy for Jesse... except maybe the crab & piranha shirts... and the pj's. :)

How To Make Your Man Happy

  1. Let him go out with a bunch of other guys paintballing/jeeping.
  2. Don't be upset when he spends money on a paintball gun & supplies.
  3. He comes home hungry but holds Cafe Rio in his hands.
  4. He's dirty from rolling around in the dirt pretending he is a character in a video game all day.

I caved... Jesse was right...

I had another prenatal appointment today... and it was the one they do an ultrasound for and measure everything to make sure baby is growing like he is supposed to... THAT'S RIGHT! We're having a baby boy!! I thought I could do it and wait until delivery day, but I had been thinking about the appointment all week and all day and.. I decided last minute I couldn't wait!

Everything still looks really good and baby is doing great! Heartbeat was 140 bpm. Now we just need to come up with a few boy names.

Here is a 4D ultrasound picture -
you can see his face, his fist up by his face, the umbilical cord
up around his head and down by his neck, and that's all I know.
(I've always thought these ultrasound pictures look a little weird...)

A Garden!

My favorite food is home-grown tomatoes... so you may see why I am excited about my [lame] potted garden. True, it is only a few plants, but I can't wait for Jesse and I to buy a house and plant a garden there. Who knows when/where that will be...

From left to right:
cherry tomatoes, early girl (medium-sized) tomatoes, and cilantro

Also, not pictured are sugar snap peas and beans. I'm not sure if they will make it through all the wind we have been having lately... and so a picture of them would only show you how much they are struggling. If you look closely you can already see a bunch of cherry tomatoes already growing! :)

I've never grown cilantro, peas, or beans before... so if you have any pointers, let me know!

Red Mountain Trail

Last Saturday Nate & Audrey and Jesse & I all went on a hike called Red Mountain Trail. It leads up to a really pretty overlook of Snow Canyon State Park. I was definitely the slowest of the 4 of us... but Jesse was nice and hiked with me anyways.

Here we are at the top
(look closely and you can see a baby bump..)

Visit with the Jones'

Emily (a friend from high school) & Christian came to visit us in St. George. They came for the sun, not for us. :) Just kidding. We went on a hike called Slots in Snow Canyon State Park, played some tennis, and some games. It was fun and I'm glad we could spend time with them. :)

Emily & Christian

Jesse proving he could crawl into the slot and "climb out if I want to."

Wedding Rock - Jesse loves to scare me here... he loves the face I make I think...

All of us at Newspaper Rock - petroglyphs in the background

On our way out, we came across a small little snake - YIKES!

Thanks for coming to visit us and come back soon!

O Canada

Last week Jesse and I got back from a 6 day trip to Vancouver Island (British Columbia). It was beautiful, but cold! Jesse actually had a business meeting on the 26th (Feb) in Victoria... which I tagged along for the trip. So I had a day to myself, but we also got a nice little vacation out of it. Jesse's Aunt & Granny live a couple hours from Victoria, so we stopped in and spent the night before coming home. It was a nice trip and I'm glad I got to come!

Here is Jesse in front of the pier

My attempt at a picture of the both of us

Ogden Point - I love beaches, even if they are cold!

A picture of me in front of the Pacific Ocean

...to feed the sea lions at Fisherman's Wharf

Fisherman's Wharf - cool how the houses float on the river, eh?

Undersea Gardens - you actually come to the pier and walk a full flight of stairs down. It is pretty much an aquarium in the pier. They have fish and other creatures native to the area.

Giant octopus and a dungeness crab

The Legislative Building at night...

...and during the day

We also went to the BC Museum.
Here is Jesse... always finds a computer somewhere...

Jesse in front of Craigdorroch Castle

We drove alongside some of the beaches and stopped to get a picture. :)

The highlight of the trip for both Jesse and I was visiting Butchart Gardens. World famous and crowded in the summer, less flowers but very peaceful (and still very beautiful) in the winter. Supposedly they have been in bloom for over a hundred years.

This section of the gardens used to be a quarry - called the Sunken Garden. They covered the quarry walls with tons of ivy - so pretty.

Another attempt at a picture of the two of us

I thought the staircase in the middle was nice.

Jesse's Aunt Darlene, Granny, and Jesse

And [of course] we visited a Tim Horton's (donut shop) on our way out.

15 Weeks

If you couldn't tell from the title... Jesse & I are having a baby! Yes, I am pregnant! Just over the 3-month mark now. I had a prenatal appointment today (I would definitely recommend Dr. Chalmers) and baby's heartbeat is 144 bpm and overall looks perfect. :) We are very happy.

ultrasound a month ago
(11 weeks)
You can see the profile of the baby's face & the umbilical cord, but not much else.

And for those of you wondering if it is a boy or girl... Jesse and I have decided to wait until the baby is born to find out!! What a surprise, right?

Anyway.. Due date is August 25th, 2009.

Last Day of Nursery...

The 2nd counselor in our ward came into the nursery yesterday to tell us that we would be released next Sunday, and this would be our last day serving in the nursery.

Really???
I honestly loved my calling in the nursery (you get to play with kids, eat snacks, and play with bubbles!), but I am excited it is done. A lot of the people in our ward still think we are new to the ward (it will be 3 years in September...) since we have been isolated in the nursery. But the kids were cute and I will miss them.

Happy Valentine's

Jesse and I had a pretty low-key V-day in order to save a little money. But he was sweet, spent the entire day with me, helped around the house, and got me 12 of these:

In my favorite color. :)

The boys a.k.a. the Gamer's Guild decided to celebrate their love for computer games (Warcraft in particular..) that night... til almost 2 in the morning. I didn't really care since Jesse spent the whole day up until then with me, so I hope you all had a good time!

Kurt, Nate, McKay, & Jesse
I love you, Jesse!

Christmas

Late, I know, but here it is. We stayed in St. George this Christmas and spent the holidays with Jesse's side of the family. We went to movies, played games, went sledding, shared presents, and had a good time visiting with family from out of town. There was even a [very] fair share of playing video games...

I only got a few pictures of sledding in Pine Valley (30 miles north ~ about an hour drive). And it's not even of the sledding.. sorry for the lack of pictures.

Here is a picture of Matt holding Carson
(getting ready to leave)

Carly all bundled up!

This is the historic Pine Valley church built by Ebenezer Bryce.
Because Bryce was a boat builder, the church is actually an upside down boat with a steeple on top.

Look at all that snow! It reminds me of Idaho! St. George even got snow on Christmas Day - a white Christmas in southern Utah... doesn't happen very often.

School started back up for me on January 6th... my last semester of nursing school. I'll graduate in May!! So I've been really busy lately, but I'll try to keep you posted on what's happening here.

Adventure to Vegas

So... I went to Las Vegas last Saturday for a doctor appointment. It is about a 2 hour drive, and I was supposed to be there between 6:30am-8:30am. About 10-15 minutes past Mesquite I saw a St. George Express (airport shuttle service) van pulled to the side of the road, due to a flat tire. I knew most probably had flights they needed to catch to get wherever they needed to go for the holidays, so I thought I would pull over and ask if anyone thought they were going to miss their plane. Three people jumped in my car and we headed to Vegas.

30 minutes later... my car got a flat tire! Now I felt sort of stupid for offering them a ride... but they got out and we went right to work changing the flat to the spare tire. We got back in the car, and in a few minutes the St. George Express van passed us (we were going 45 mph..). Luckily, the van pulled over and the travelers in my car got right back on the van.

Overall, I was grateful they were there to help me change a flat tire! I could have done it (I hope) probably, but those people ended up being more of a blessing to me than I was for them!

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!

Snow here in St. George!!??? This reminds me of my wedding day... only even MORE snow! They even canceled school (1st time in 10 years) because how much there is out there. But honestly, there isn't that much. 3 maybe 4 inches the last few days. But out where Terrel & Janet live (Kayenta) there is a LOT more snow. Maybe we'll have a white Christmas!

Mom & Dad Visit Beginning of December

My parents came down to St. George a little bit ago for a quick visit. We went to Zion Nat'l Park, Tuacahn's Live Nativity, and did some shopping. It was fun and I'm glad they made the 8 hour trip. :)

Here are some pictures of Zion
(we hiked Angel's Landing)

Here's a picture of Jesse & me (not the best...)

Jesse likes to get dangerous pictures... Once we were on the top he wanted to get a picture of the sheer cliff (I mean sheer). So... this is looking almost 1500 feet STRAIGHT down.

Here are some of the wonderful paved switchbacks.

Here we are waiting for the Nativity show to start.
(It was freezing... even for St. George!)

Here are my mom & dad

Thanks Mom & Dad for visiting! Come more often!! :) :)

Clouds on the Mountains

Jesse & I did get a few pictures in on Thanksgiving Day... but before we even arrived for dinner. It had rained a lot (for St. George) and there were some clouds formed right next to the mountain. I thought it looked pretty, so I had Jesse take a picture while I was driving.

What do we have in common?

Julianne Moore... Brendan Fraser... Ozzy Osbourne... Mindy...
We share the same birthday of course! (Today!) I heard it on the radio on my way to work this morning... and I thought I would share. :)
And yes... that is an old picture of me... maybe 3 years old.

My Sister is Engaged!

Congratulations, Rachel & Darrin! Rachel called me last night to tell me they were engaged! That's so exciting! I'm happy for you, Rachel. :)
